Greenwich YMCA
The project at the Greenwich YMCA involved the design of Olympic-sized swimming pool and gymnasium additions atop a two-story parking garage, as well as the reframing and renovation of the four-story annex housing the lobby, locker rooms, offices and studios.
To facilitate the large open spaces in the pool and gymnasium, curved three-dimensional steel roof trusses were designed to support the roof. The seismic- and wind-force resisting systems were designed with steel moment frames and cross-braced frames, and utilize masonry shear walls where possible for economy.
Ryan Preston was the project engineer for the additions and renovations while with the DiSalvo Ericson Group.
